Words of Welcome
Dear Conference & Exhibition Participants,
As the General Chair of the International Steering Committee for the 2nd Deepwater West Africa Conference & Exhibition, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you all to Luanda, Angola. It is the Committee’s deepest wish that you enjoy your stay here and hope that you take advantage the opportunity to make new friends, exchange technical knowledge and seek new business opportunities. “Learning from the Challenges of West Africa Deepwater” is the theme of this 2nd Regional Deepwater Offshore West Africa Exploration and Production Conference and Exhibition.
The Ministry of Petroleum of Angola, Sonangol E.P., and the Angolan Oil & Gas Community have put together an extremely high quality technical program and a state-of-the-art exhibition to demonstrate that Angola is open for business. In the coming days, over 400 delegates from across the world representing a large spectrum of the world’s energy community, businesses, local universities, and African Government representatives will converge in Luanda to hear about the latest technical and business trends, in a deepwater marketplace which is setting industry precedents both in terms of technology and innovation. Angola is an oil and gas region which has already attracted the best minds and talent to help further unlock Angola’s deepwater treasures.
The Deepwater Exploration, Development and Production successes in the Angola Lower Congo basin are leading the industry in West Africa in terms of the pace of discoveries, development and transition into production. Our thanks to the Ministry of Petroleum of Angola, Sonangol, and all the members of the various organizing committees, for making this a success. Many thanks to everyone who submitted technical papers and posters for this event. Your time to document and share your knowledge and ideas with us is greatly appreciated.
On behalf of the International Steering Committee, I would like to welcome all of you, acknowledge your presence and thank you for coming to Angola. I wish you an exciting stay!
